“Hommage aux Iles-de-la-Madeleine II” Exhibition now Appearing at Moncton’s Assumption Gallery
|
Artist Adrienne Godbout from Grande-Digue will be exhibiting her "Hommage aux Iles-de-la-Madeleine II" collection through March 31 at the Assumption Gallery. Seven of these eight paintings, created since January 2010, will be shown there for the first time.
"Hommage aux Iles-de-la-Madeleine II" is a sequel to the "Hommage aux Iles-de-la-Madeleine I" exhibit presented in October 2009 at Moncton’s Georges Goguen Gallery. The artist was inspired to create these two collections during her participation in the 13th Symposium de peinture figurative de l’Étang-du-Nord, in July 2009.
For over 25 years, Adrienne has developed a colourful and expressive style that is rich in texture and movement. "Having been greatly influenced by the Group of Seven and most particularly, Lawren Harris, painting the landscapes around me has become central to my being," she explained. "Essentially self-taught, I learned that creativity is a process of exploration and discovery and that the outcome of a painting is often quite different from its original sketch. I let the work evolve on its own during the creative process, while maintaining harmony and simplicity as my primary goals. I am constantly evolving as the result of change and appreciate the unique and unusual."
Not only is Adrienne highly involved in her community, she has joined several painters’ associations and is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. She has participated in many group and solo shows in New Brunswick and Quebec, as well as Belgium.
Adrienne Godbout has an impressive list of art-related accomplishments on her résumé. She won the Bronze Medal for "Première Neige" at the 25th Concours Gala International Cercle des artistes-peintres et sculpteurs du Québec in Montreal. She was selected to appear in Magazin’art’s national publication entitled Biennial guide to Canadian artists in galleries, 2006-2008 and 2009-2010, which includes 700 Canadian artists exhibiting in galleries throughout Canada.
A former First Prize winner in the annual New Brunswick Provincial Art Fair, she has been awarded several prizes and honourable mentions at other regional shows. Adrienne was one of the winners of the prestigious "Paint the Town" juried exhibit held by Fredericton’s Gallery 78 in 1997.
Adrienne is represented by the Serendipin’art Gallery in St-Andrews-by-the-Sea and will be represented by an Ottawa gallery beginning in April 2010. Many of her paintings, however, are exhibited in her own gallery in Grande-Digue. To learn more about this artist and view her most recent works, visit the Assumption Gallery today.
