Michel Rail Named Assumption Life’s “Financial Advisor - Volunteer of the Year”

Michel Rail of Caraquet has been named Assumption Life’s "Financial Advisor - Volunteer of the Year" for his outstanding commitment to his community. In 2009, he donated over 400 hours of his time to various community organizations and sports teams in Caraquet.
His long history of volunteering, which goes back to his earliest days with Assumption Life a decade ago, were recognized at a gala event held in January in Moncton. "This award was established in order to recognize the involvement and motivation of our financial advisors who volunteer," explained Larry Boudreau, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, for Assumption Life. "Michel’s sense of dedication to his community is impressive. He clearly deserves this award!" In addition to bestowing the distinction, Assumption Life donated $1,000 on Mr. Rail’s behalf to La Maison des Jeunes de Caraquet Inc.
Mr. Rail is currently chairman of Fondation Saint-Pierre Inc. in Caraquet, vice-president of Coop de Caraquet Ltée and a board member of La Maison des Jeunes de Caraquet Inc. He also volunteers for two sports-related causes: Les Acadiens hockey team and the Caraquet baseball team, of which he is president.
Mr. Rail was pleasantly surprised at being singled out for the award, saying, "Volunteering is very important to me as a way of giving back to my community. As a volunteer, it’s gratifying to give your time in support of local organizations and to be able to share your experience."
Assumption Life takes its social responsibility very seriously, and its employees have a long tradition of sharing with their communities. Assumption Life’s employees and financial advisors have shown great dedication and generosity in their volunteer support of organizations including not only the Tree of Hope but also the United Way and numerous other worthy causes. More than $350,000 is returned to the community every year in this manner, including $25,000 from events organized directly by employees and financial advisors. This does not include the many additional hours volunteered by members of the Assumption Life team individually to a wide variety of organizations.
