Golfers Tee Off For Good Causes!
Moncton, July 3, 2008 -Once again this year, the Assumption Life golf tournament took place, on Friday, June 20, 2008, at the Pokemouche Golf Club. This golf tournament is the brainchild of representatives at Shippagan’s Assumption Financial Centre.
Golfers began hitting balls under a sunny sky for four worthwhile causes. This tournament helped raise $8,000 for the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute in its fight against breast cancer. What’s more, Shippagan’s Assumption Financial Centre presented a $2,000 cheque to each of the Acadian Peninsula’s three hospital foundations: the Caraquet Hospital Foundation, the Lamèque Hospital Foundation and the Tracadie-Sheila Hospital Foundation.
This event, long-awaited by business professionals and golf fans from the Acadian Peninsula, is a success story year after year. A total of 155 participants got together on the golf course for this eighth annual tournament, which has made it possible, since 2000, to remit a total of $68,000 to the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute and $36,000 to various organizations from the region.
“This event would not be possible without the devotion of the representatives from our financial centre and the generosity of our sponsors and participants. We are proud to confirm that the three hospital foundations will continue to benefit from a share of the profits for the next four years. We will continue to support breast cancer research, through the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute, which receives the major part of the proceeds. ” declared Howard Ferguson, financial advisor with Shippagan’s Assumption Financial Centre.
Community involvement is a guiding principle of Assumption Life. The company's employees and representatives also demonstrate their outstanding dedication and great generosity by getting involved in a number of other campaigns, such as the United Way and the Tree of Hope campaigns, to name only a few. The more than $25,000 raised annually through these fundraising efforts is also returned to the community! This does not include the countless hours of additional volunteering by members of the Assumption Life team on behalf of a multitude of organizations.
