Monday, October 6, 2008

Assumption Life topped Progress Magazine’s rankings for the Top 10 Atlantic companies with the best internal practices. An article "It’s your life – Assumption Life tailors its development opportunities to its employees’ needs" is printed in the September issue of the magazine, featuring the Top 101 companies’ survey.

Assumption Life also stood out in this survey by taking 32nd place among the Top 101 Atlantic companies, which are best positioned for future growth. The 2008 survey and ranking were conducted by Progress magazine, in partnership with the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University.

"To be included as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 101 companies and better yet to rank no 1 for best internal practices - alongside all these outstanding businesses - is another hallmark of success for Assumption Life, said Assumption Life’s CEO, Denis Losier. In light of the changes and events affecting the financial services industry and the economy in general, this ranking reflects the Company's sound financial health and proves that Assumption Life’s internal practices, niche market and product development strategies are working," explained Mr. Losier.

Revenues and growth: the outcome of certain operational practices

Since last year, the Top 101 Companies survey is not only based on revenues to bring to light Atlantic’s top performers, but also measures all aspects of operational practices, including customer orientation, internal practices, innovation and learning, and social responsibility and governance.

"While financial stability is very important for any organization, the work environment is what enables companies to recruit, retain, motivate and engage employees" said Rachelle Gagnon, Director of Human Resources. "Internal practices and policies that meet employees’ needs are critical for any organization. By including it in the Top 101, it provides another element to the survey to better evaluate which companies truly stand out".

Mr. Larry Boudreau, vice-president of sales and marketing at Assumption Life attended the award reception scheduled October 1 in Saint John, one of the four taking place abroad the Atlantic Provinces this fall.
