Assumption Life among Atlantic Canada’s Top 101 companies best positioned for future growth
Great news! Assumption Life, second in Progress Magazine’s ranking for the Top 10 Atlantic companies with the best internal practices, also stood out in this survey by taking 33rd place among the Top 101 Atlantic companies that are best positioned for future growth. The top 101 Atlantic company list was published in the September issue of Progress Magazine.
This survey, conducted by Progress Magazine in partnership with the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University, measures all aspects of Atlantic Canada’s top performers including revenues, operational practices, customer orientation, internal practices, innovation and learning, social responsibility and governance.

Ranked second for internal practices
While financial stability is very important for any organization, the work environment is what enables companies to recruit, retain, motivate and engage employees, explained Rachelle Gagnon, director of human resources. By including internal practices in the Top 101, it provides another element to the survey to better evaluate which companies truly stand out. "It is through our employees’ and our sales force’s innovations that we are able to implement our company’s strategies. They give their all to meet deadlines and achieve our goals. Therefore, internal practices and policies that meet our employees’ needs are critical and more so in an increasingly competitive world, because it’s their talent that makes the difference."

The year 2009 will be remembered for all the recognition Assumption Life garnered for its excellence.
• In May 2009, for the tenth year in a row, Assumption Life received an A- (excellent) rating from A.M. Best, the leading insurance-rating agency in the industry, thus reaffirming the company’s financial strength.
• In October 2009, Assumption Life was recognized by a Mediacorp Canada Inc. survey among the 100 best places to work in Canada and one of Atlantic Canada’s Top 25 Employers.
