Wednesday, December 2, 2009

Assumption Life’s employees, who enjoy a well-deserved reputation for their generosity, presented a cheque in the amount of $15 000 to the Tree of Hope Radiothon held on Friday, November 27, at the Dieppe campus of the New Brunswick Community College. This tidy sum was raised in addition to a corporate donation of $123,115 to support breast cancer research.

Assumption Life employees have been diligent supporters of the Tree of Hope Campaign since its beginnings in 1989. "Twenty years of endorsing this annual campaign, it’s a big deal. Our employees’ sense of ownership to the cause makes a big difference. Throughout the years, they volunteer countless hours toward organizing and carrying out activities such as our jeans day, fifty-fifty draws, arts and crafts sale, bake sale and many others. They believe so much in this annual campaign, and I sincerely thank them on behalf of all who benefit from their onsoing support. We are proud to see our employees giving so generously on an annual basis," stated Denis Losier, president and CEO of Assumption Life.

Tree of Hope

The Tree of Hope Campaign is an annual event of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation which furthers the development of the Dr. Léon-Richard Oncology Centre, improves quality of care for patients staying at the Mgr. Henri-Cormier Lodge and enhances cancer research efforts of the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI). Since its inception in 1989, the Tree of Hope Campaign has raised over to $10 million thanks to the generosity of men and women who find hope by making spontaneous and benevolent gestures for the well-being of their community.

Assumption Life takes its social responsibility very seriously, and the company’s employees have fostered a long tradition of sharing with their community. The involvement and great generosity of Assumption Life’s employees and representatives have been truly remarkable in relation to the Tree of Hope campaign as well as to United Way and the many other noble causes our people support. More than $325,000 is put back into the local community every year, including $25,000 raised directly through activities organized by our employees.
